PostSubject: Nerties & Nitrates   Tue Mar 17, 2009 9:32 pm

Hello,

I am having a bit of a battle with Nitrates in my tank at the moment, and I know it's affecting my fish, but I'm doing my best.

Question - Are Nerites affected by high Nitrates? When I say high I'm talking 50 - 70 ppm.

Thanks in advance Smile

Hello!
Snails are generally more sensitive than fish. High nitrates may be ok for a week or so, but eventually it will start to damage the snails and they will become lethargic and may end up dying. Have you tried a nitrate reducing resin in your filter?
